GfK was founded in 1934 in Nuremberg, Germany. Prior to the merger, the independent business served more than 10,000 clients in 67 countries.
Can you tell me more about NIQ?
NIQ was founded in 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. Prior to the merger, the independent business served more than 20,000 clients in 99 countries.
What is the ownership structure of the combined company?
With the transaction, Advent International will become the majority shareholder of the combined company. Advent International acquired NielsenIQ in a transaction that closed in 2021. Nuremberg Institute for Market Decisions (NIM) and KKR will remain invested as significant shareholders in the combined company.
What is the new company’s name?
Going forward, we will operate as NielsenIQ (NIQ). GfK will continue to use its name and visual identity through a transition period.
